I talked to my lawyers. They said that the first time it didn't work. As this memo is recent, they still have to see its usefulness. Perhaps, the problem is that even if A# are provided to USCIS offices, they can't find where those (physical) files are. Nothing can be done unless files are seen by adjudicators.
Note that cases (family and employment) other than for identified 3 or 4 countries, PD is not an issue. So for USCIS it is not as big of a problem as it is for us.

LOL! I did that already in May and the Local office IO was so incredibly RUDE and unhelpful. She told me absolutely nothing other than confusing me by saying my application was being processed on the East Coast and it would be another 3 months or so....... Bet she was just looking at the "EAC" in my receipt # to come up with "East Coast". I confirmed today it is definitely at TSC.
I am not surprised. USCIS/DHS employees have no accountability and utterly incompetent. They throw around national security whenever someone tries to hold them responsible.
They made a mess of those VSC-TSC, CSC-TSC, transfer cases and some are still waiting for their fingerprint notices.

Ombudsman had correctly predicted this fiasco back in June before the dates were made current:
There will be severe consequences from rapid fluctuations in priority dates. If the priority date became current today, due to delayed USCIS processing and thus underutilization of visa numbers, some have predicted that within a few months as many as 500,000 to 750,000 individuals now residing in the United States under a temporary worker visa could apply for a green card. Additionally, DOL’s recent backlog elimination efforts, scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2007, are predicted to add 70,000 or more approved labor certifications yielding as many as 170,000 additional green card applications. As USCIS begins to complete these applications and request visa numbers from DOS, the 140,000 statutorily authorized visa numbers will be used. DOS then will be required to retrogress priority dates. Consequently, most applicants in this scenario will find themselves trapped where as they anticipated timely receipt of a green card, their wait exceeds seven or more years. In addition, all future employment-based green card applicants effectively would be barred from applying for many years.38

But unless we try to get the visa numbers increased we might still have to wait for SEVEN or more years in "same or similar" job.

Thanks. These are the fees for a new H1B. Is procedure/fees same for transfer of H1B from one employer to another? How long does it take? I know USCIS posts processing times, but a first-hand information on employer transfer will be helpful.

E-Verify was a bargaining chip for Senate Democrats against Senate Republicans.
What happened was - When Senator Menendez from NJ (Dem.) floated the Visa Recapture Bill; he said that he and other Dems will only support Permanent extension of E-Verify a bill designed to extend it for four additional years; if the Senate Republicans support Visa Recapture Bill.
But the Visa Recapture Bill didn't happen.
So, E-Verify also didn't happen.
However, as a Last Minute "ideal gift" from the Great President Bush to all Legal Immigrants; he issued an Executive order to extend E-Verify till March 06, 2009.
Therefore, E-Verify is active today in the system.
Now, House and Senate Republicans want to permanently extend E-Verify after March 06, 2009; especially the antis and yes NumbersUSA.So, they added this amendment to extend E-Verify for additional 4 years in the Stimulus Bill that passed this Wednesday.
However, the Stimulus Bill has to pass the Senate to become law. Thus, permanent extension of E-Verify has nothing to do with giving Stimulus money to only legal immigrants. Imagine if it takes 3-4 years to process an H1B..the only option we'll have, is to go premium processing. That way, premium processing becomes the rule, not the exception. If they want to be really "capitalistic", they can say, how much is the H1B worker ready to pay out of their salary for the H1? 10,000 dollars a year? Shouldnt they charge us that, if they think they can get away with it? Afterall, its good old capitalism right? Everyone should be concerned about their bottom line..why not the BCIS? Im sure most of these already exploited H1B's will shell out 10K extra per year just to keep their H1's. Does that sound like a good business proposition? It does..to me. Just like people pay extra to get their mail delivered next day Fedex, the BCIS should charge us 1000$ extra if we want the H1B processed in a reasonable time, another $1000.00 to get I-130 processed etc. Why the figure of $1000.00? Was it arrived based on some calculation? Why not..$5000, or even $7000? After all, market pricing should be based on demand supply, and since H1B is marketed as a premium product, this should be reflected in the prices otherwise it will lose its brand image..right?

From view source it is difficult to find whether it is manually or automatically updated. But from this site it is easier to identify becos the person who updated this did leave a mark. Today Times of India has published an article "Immigrants cost Americans low-skilled jobs". They have referred a study by Center for Immigration Studies. I have already written to TOI for publishing this and urged them to stop helping anti-immigrant groups by publishing such articles. All members please post comments on this article and ask TOI to stop nonsense. whether low-skilled or high skilled this is going to help anti-immigrant cause.

Yes, I did the same.....even though I had a valid H1B stamped in my passport the POE made me use the AP to enter.....

In my paycheck and salary slips there are deduction but reason or description of the deduction are not mentioned. I have all salary slips with me. I am working on % based so some time even after deduction my anual salary is not less than 8 years old offer letter. My anual salary vary from 55k to 100k depending on project rate and lenth of projects in year. I find my own project since last 5 - 6 years and pay % to my greedy company for nothing. It took me 8 years to find out my company because my company is not a very small company and looks decent from top serface.
If number of hours worked and the agreed rate matches for that months salary slip then you have no way to prove that deduction is for GC processing - The company even can claim you have 'purchased' the holidays for the upcoming vacation. So, the way I see it - you need to generate the document to collect GC amount from your employer. (1) send out an email mentioning the amount and ask them to reimburse it (2) submit an expense reimbursement statement with your salary slips. During 1 and 2 - if your company says (by accident) they will not reimburse the amount then that's your proof.

I got the same mail and kept me thinking about it; Just another way USCIS keeps us on our toes and in suspense, since the years of wait is not sufficient.....; Anyway, looks things are moving. Great Job by IV and the teams, starting from July 2007 visa bulletin; the community is great and good source of information. I will do my best to continue my support for IV as before and to all the immigrants or waiting to be one. Good luck to everyone.
